Join us this last Friday of Spring as we offer a very special tasting featuring a fantastic selection of warm weather adult beverages. For the beer drinkers who already love sours (or for those who want to try one), we’ll be hosting a delicious line-up from CASCADE BREWING out of Portland, Oregon:

APRICOT ALE – earning a 99 points score on RateBeer, the base brew for this undergoes over 8 months of lactic fermentation and oak barrel aging before ripe NorthWest Apricots are fermented with this beer for 3 additional months.

BLACKCAP RASPBERRY – earning a 99 points score on RateBeer, this NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months with pounds of Black Cap raspberries. Sharp notes of tart berries lead to a dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note.

KRIEK – earning a 98 points score on RateBeer, this “Belgian Flanders Style Red Ale” is refermented with a blend of 4 different types of fresh whole Northwest cherries, then   aged in oak barrels for one year.

And we’ll also have a surprise Cascade beer that will hopefully be shipped in time for our tasting (or we’ll substitute one of their other beers instead).

wild-turkey-rare-breedFor the whiskeys, we’ll be tasting a selection of upper tier spirits from WILD TURKEY DISTILLERY:

WILD TURKEY RARE BREED – double Gold Medal winner at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, this 112.8 barrel proof bourbon whiskey is a blend of 6, 8 & 12 year old bourbons. Its flavor starts off with bold rye, pepper, and a small amount of seasoned oak that give way to a developing sweetness of cane sugar, light caramelized wood, and vanilla which take over as the spice dissipates..

RUSSELL’S RESERVE 10 YEAR BOURBON – earning a score of 95 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, this small batch bourbon matures for over a decade in heavily charred casks. Starting off with a classic profile of toffee, vanilla, and spice flavors, it finishes with complex oaky sweetness, silky corn and maple along with light baking spices.

RUSSELL’S RESERVE SINGLE BARREL RYE – aged for 6 years and bottled at 104 proof, it starts off with heavy rye and baking spices flavors that lead to notes of citrus, dill, dark sweets and a bit of mint, then finishes with a long spicy fade of wood, citrus and dark sweets.

A To Z RoseAnd for the wines, our wonderful rep from A. Bommarito will be bringing these for you to sample:

A TO Z CHARDONNAY – earning a 90 points score from Wine Enthusiast, this wine offers a well-balanced acidity along with its flavors of buttery apple fruit and honeydew bedecked with cinnamon and buttressed with refreshing minerality.

A TO Z ROSE – fresh and compelling, finishing lively and long with lingering flavors of strawberries and cherries.

FORIS PINOT GRIS – with a score of 89 points from Wine Spectator, this Oregonian wine finished in stainless steel tanks is tangy and mouthwatering, smooth and rich with a lingering minerality and “an appealing vitality to the green melon, ripe pear and delicately floral flavors, lingering on the focused finish.”

TOAD HOLLOW “GOLDIE’S VINEYARD” PINOT NOIR – a light and fruity Russian River Pinot with bright flavors of cherries, hints of cranberry and raspberry, and a finish that offers a touch of vanilla and sweet oak notes.

GRAYSON CABERNET SAUVIGNON – this dark, full-bodied wine starts off with intense notes of dark fruit (mostly blackberry) and  hints of black pepper that give way to a soft lingering finish with hints of toasted French oak.
