Crane Tea WeissFriday Sept 1st
4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
FREE EVENT

Join us this Friday evening for a very special first Friday in September tasting to get you ready for the kickoff to football season. We’ll start off by hosting Crane Brewing Co., another great hometown Kansas City beer maker who’s bringing these beers for you to sample from:

GRAPEFRUIT GOSE –  A slightly sour and salty wheat ale loaded with tangy, zesty grapefruit for an invigorating taste that’s perfect for any season.

TEA WEISS – A distinctly American take on an old-world German ale, Tea Weiss combines Kansas City’s own Hugo Berry Rooibos Tea with a spritzy, sour wheat beer to exceedingly refreshing effect

FARMHOUSE IPA – Big, bold, juicy American hops join the dry, yeast driven saison flavor to create an aromatic, uninterrupted hop experience.

For the liquor, we’ll be hosting the excellent distillers of TEMPLETON RYE, “The Good Stuff” to those in the know. Produced from the original templeton-ryeProhibition era recipe and aged in charred new oak barrels, you’ll be able to sample both the wonderfully smooth classic 4-YEAR RYE that’s been a famous small batch whiskey since the days of Prohibition —

And the new  6-YEAR RYE – Aged six years in new American oak barrels, this limited release of Templeton Rye whiskey is 91.5 proof with an unforgettable flavor.

Along with the ryes, we’ll also be tasting CARPANO VERMOUTH – this Antica Formula sweet vermouth, made from the original recipe developed by Antonio Benedetto Carpano in 1786, is rich, complex and layered, boasting aromas of mint and other herbs, plums and figs, reminscent of Madeira. The rich flavors are hard to pin down: cocoa, red wine, almonds, bitter marmelade, hints of spice and toffee all play across the palate, finishing with a bracing bitter edge. This delectable sweet vermouth would shine in a Manhattan or is even delicious on the rocks by itself.

And for the wines, our excellent rep from Terra Firma will be bringing these for you to try:

The Path Pinot NoirBENJI ROSE – this delicious Coteaux D’Aix-En-Provence French wine offers  flavors of fresh strawberries, watermelon, sour cherry balanced by a salty minerality and a well integrated acidity.

“THE PATH” PINOT NOIR – starting off with softly rounded flavors of dried strawberry, dried cranberry and cranberry cocktail, this medium body Pinot Noir unfolds in layers of red stone fruit and dark berries, and ends with well-integrated tannins.

PAPARUDA ESTATE PINOT GRIGIO – from the section of Romania that’s been producing wine since the 15th Century, this stainless steel tank fermented wine’s flavors are packed full of fresh juicy lemon and lime citrus and the green fruits of apple flesh and pear, well balanced with medium acidity, and finishing with lighter fragrant flavors of peach and grapefruit.

VINA ROBLES PETITE SIRAHAged for 20 months in French oak, this wine offers flavors of deep dark fruit, fleshy cassis and blueberry, creamy chocolate that picks up nuances of  licorice and smoke, and finishes on a note of blackberry compote, with supple, harmonious tannins.
