Join us this Thursday and Friday in sampling a variety of beers, liquors and wines on both days. Let’s start off with Thursday where we’ll start off the tasting with a rare treat:

MACALLAN EDITION #2 – a Speyside single malt scotch, Edition No.2 is a collaboration between master blender Bob Delgarno and legendary Spanish chefs Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca. A combination of sherry puncheons, butts and refill hogsheads, this is a deliciously floral and fruity whisky with notes of tropical fruit, black pepper, liquorice and brandy snaps.

And for the wines on Thursday, our rep from Trademark will be bringing these for you to sample:

MACCHIA “DANGEROUS” PORTproduced from very ripe Zinfandel and Barbera clusters, these decadently sweet grapes are fermented together to produce a classic dessert wine that is so delicious, it’s Dangerous!

macchia-dang-portSUMMERS ESTATE ANDRIANA’S CABERNET SAUVIGNON – this excellent cuvee contains a mix of cabernet grapes from Sonoma County, Lake County and Napa. It also includes other Bordeaux red varieties as well as tiny amounts of Syrah and Petite Sirah. Medium bodied and dusty, with dried herb tones, it’s structured, velvety and finishes on a dark chocolate note.

PORTLANDIA PINOT NOIR – This excellent Willamette Valley wine offers sweet ripe cherry and red plum flavors with a hint of minerality and spicy pipe tobacco that ends with a spicy lingering finish.

BALLETO ROSE – with a score of 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, this rose was #55 on their “Top 100 Wines of 2016”. Fun and lively with bright strawberry, watermelon and lime flavors that combine with perfect acidity and texture to make this pretty and delicious wine. The balance is heavenly, and the only thing missing is a sunny day on the patio.

OSKAR BLUES samplerOn Friday, we’ll be starting off with this great selection of beers from Colorado’s OSKAR BLUES BREWERY for you to sample:

DALE’S PALE ALE – Delivers a hoppy nose and assertive-but-balanced flavors of pale malts and citrusy floral hops from start to finish.

IPA – Malt barley and red wheat combine to create a clean malt backbone with foolproof flavor and mouthfeel to support the main act of Enigma, Vic Secret, Ella, Topaz and Galaxy hops. The hops strum juicy and sweet flavors with headline notes of passion fruit, raspberries, pineapple and citrus.

PINNER – Dry-hopping with several different heady hops, including a killer experimental variety, gives PINNER this tropical, stoned fruit aroma with hints of pine and smooth malt in the flavor.

MAMA’S LITTLE YELLA PILS – Unlike mass market‚ “pilsners‚” diluted with corn and rice, Mama’s is built with 100% pale malt, German specialty malts, and Saaz hops.

jefferson_s_reserveFor the liquor, we’ll be tasting: our hand-picked JEFFERSON’S BOURBON and JEFFERSON’S RESERVE BOURBON. When you buy any bourbon, what you get is a mix of different barrels — some peppery, some bitey, some smooth, all mixed together.

When we buy Jefferson’s though, their rep brings us 10 samples from different barrels and we choose the smoothest one. What you get is Jefferson’s Bourbon and Jefferson’s reserve that are much smoother for the dollar than what you’ll get when you buy it off the shelf anywhere else. Don’t believe it? Come try our Jefferson’s with the Plaza Liquor label on them and compare for yourself.

And for the wines, our wonderful rep from A. Bommarito will be bringing these wines for you to sample:

LADERA CABERNET SAUVIGNON – this wine’s intense palate is pure and structured, packed with black fruits ( blackberry and black currant)  with spice notes of cassis and fresh clove and supple tannins that extend through the wine’s finish.

saracco-moscato-92SARACCO MOSCATO D’ASTI – with a score of 90 points from Robert Parker and 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, the creamy, foaming palate of this wine offers apricot, candied tangerine zest, lemon drop and a note of crystallized ginger. Bright acidity and a hint of thyme lift the rich flavors. One of the best Moscato wines on the market.

HONIG RUTHERFORD SAUVIGNON BLANC – with a score of 90 points from Wine Advocate, this wine offers summer fruit aromas and flavors (white peach, melon and lychee) are highlighted by lemon bar, vanilla and toasty oak. This rich, complex and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc will prove delightful with a wide variety of menus.

JOULLIAN CHARDONNAY –  a juicy lime, green pear and Gravenstein apple entry on this wine expands into a broad citrus/apple mid-palate that finishes with a lingering mineral and roasted grain flavors of uncommon length and depth.

AVERAEN PINOT NOIR – another excellent pinot noir from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, this wine is medium-bodied and very smooth, with abundant flavors of ripe raspberries, red cherries, red currants and strawberries undercut by stony minerality. Vibrant acidity emerges at the end, without detracting from the lush mouthfeel first experienced up front and on the mid-palate.
