Join us this Cinco de Mayo Friday evening for a bevy of adult beverages to get you into a festive mood. We’ll start off with a couple of beers from Coulmbia, MO’s own ROCK BRIDGE BREWING CO.:
OPTION #2 – earning a 95 points score from RateBeer, this Imperial Milk stout is brewed with vanilla-hazelnut coffee beans that give it a deliciously creamy mouthfeel with notes of vanilla, roasted coffee grain, and hazelnut.
RYE YOU LIL PUNK – earning an 87 points score from RateBeer, this IPA is brewed with rye malt and Falconer’s Flight hops to give it earthy, slightly spicy notes that pair nicely with the big citrus hops and stone fruit flavors.
And for the liquor portion of our tasting, we’ll be welcoming OLMECA ALTOS TEQUILAS, produced in Los Altos of Jalisco, 2104 metres above sea level, and created, in part, using the traditional Tahona production process (50% tahona-crushed agave, and 50% roller mill), before being distilled in small copper pot stills.
During the 2014 Tequila Challenge blind tasting events, Olmeca Altos Plata received the overall highest scores in San Francisco. In Seattle, Olmeca Altos Reposado was the second highest scoring tequila out of six, and every other tequila in consideration was at least double the price. We’ll be sampling both their:
Plata (faint aroma of tobacco and slight musty leaves, with a very delicious sweet finish) and their Reposado ( loaded with sweet delicious caramelized baked agave, and the finish delivers a long and pleasant creamy vanilla treat). Give them both a try as it’s surprising they can create a level of fine tequila at their modest prices.
And for the wines, our wonderful rep from Classique will be bringing these for you to sample:
THE NED ROSE – this delicious New Zealand Rose is pressed from Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes. It offers a palate of ripe red berries with subtle hints of watermelon and raspberry cane with crisp acidic edges and subtle lingering Pinot Noir tannins.
PEIRANO “ILLUSION” RED BLEND – the palate for this deep red blend from Lodi, CA explodes with rich mouthfilling blackberries, black currants, plums and dark fruit. The long, seductive finish is filled with hints of black licorice and has firm, round, yet supple mouthfilling tannins.
PARIS VALLEY ROAD CHARDONNAY – with grapes grown in the cool coastal climate to ensure high quality fruit that ripens slowly, this is really a blend of stainless steel fermented Chardonnay and American oak barrel aged Chardonnay blended with white Rhone varietals to give it a more complex flavor. On the palate it tastes of wet stone, citrus and green apple complimented by flavors of ripe honeydew melon and white peach.
DOS FINCAS MALBEC – inky purple in color, with classic Malbec aromatics of dark plum, blackberry, and blueberry, it offers layers of saturated berry fruit flavors and notes of cocoa to fill out the palate as the wine finishes incredibly softly.
DOMAINE LE CAPITAINE VOUVRAY – The Vouvray appellation is located on the northern bank of the loire river, next to the city of Tours in the Touraine district and Vouvray wines are exclusively made from the chenin blanc grape. A subtle taste of earthy minerality balances out this wine that is fruity with flavors of apple and peach, yet fresh and crisp with lively acidity.
