Join us this Friday evening as we feature a selection of adult beverages for sampling that will get you in the mood for the coming warm weather. We’ll tip off with Boulevard Brewing’s sister company FIRESTONE-WALKER BREWERY, the 4-time World Beer Cup Champion Brewery out of Paso Robles, CA, who’ll be bringing these beers for you to try:

UNION JACK – earning a score of 99 points from RateBeer, this aggressively hopped West Coast-style IPA offers generous dry-hop flavors of grapefruit and tangerine balanced with a honey-like pale malt sweetness.

LAGER – an easy-drinking, all-malt craft lager brewed in the classic Munich Helles style featuring German pilsner and North American pale malts, as well as noble German hops including Hallertau Tradition, Spalter Select and Saphir.

NITRO MERLIN – earning a score of 96 points from RateBeer, they took the Merlin oatmeal stout and added lactose sugar to turn it into a full-bodied milk stout with the same roasty flavors but with the nitro to give it a smooth and creamy mouthfeel that makes it even more delicious.

For the liquors, our excellent local distillery LIFTED SPIRITS will be sampling these selections from their family of spirits:

BRIGHT GIN – getting its flavor from the botanicals’ vapors rather than by soaking in them, the  10 different botanicals including chamomile, cardamom, hibiscus, elderberries, and orange peel, juniper, orris root, vanilla, licorice root and coriander are lighter, more crisp, more aromatic, without the intense pine tree taste that overwhelms the other flavors in many gins.

VODKA – made from red winter wheat grown by farmers less than an hour from Kansas City, this vodka is incredibly smooth.

BARREL RESERVE GIN – aged in barrels originally used to produce Kansas City-made bourbon Wicket & Peg, then used to age Crossroads Apfel Reserve Cider by KC Wineworks, the barrels impart rich notes of vanilla and caramel from the bourbon and a hint of sweet apple flavor into the Bright Gin, which adds its own notes of cinnamon and cardamom. The end result is a mellowed spirit with complex flavors that is smooth to drink.

And for the wines, our wonderful rep from D&E Fine Wines division will be bringing these for you to try:

DECOY ROSE – earning a score of 91 points from Wine.com and 90 points from both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, this beautiful wine made from Syrah and Pinot Noir grapes exhibits lively raspberry and enticing blueberry flavors with an refreshing underlying acidity that gives it a crisp, dry and fruity finish.

TAMARI MALBEC – earning a score of 89 points from Robert Parker, this Argentinian medium-bodied wine offers an earthiness to its dark fruit flavors of blackberry, plums and toffee balanced with acidity and spices to give it a long, ripe fruit-filled finish.

CAVICCHIOLI 1928 SPARKLING ROSE – this Italian Spumante Dolce is made from 100% Lambrusco grapes that offer mildly sweet and juicy, fresh fruit flavors of peach and apricot and red fruit notes along with a slightly spicy aftertaste and a creamy texture and refreshing crispness for a mouthwatering finish.

UNDERWOOD PINOT NOIR – this wine from the Willamette Valley in Oregon offers flavors of cherries, raspberries and light strawberry fruit that carry light herbal notes and mild tannins to a long, fruit-laden finish.

UNDERWOOD PINOT GRIS – a bright and refreshing white wine that offers crisp flavors of white nectar peach, pear, stonefruit and a touch of citrus carried along by its medium-body to a pleasant lingering finish.
