Join us this Friday evening as the heat returns and we offer up a sampling line-up of adult beverages to help you beat it. We’ll start off the tasting with a selection of beers from NEW BELGIUM BREWING CO. that includes:
THE HEMPEROR HPA – their new take on an IPA is a unique way to recreate hemp terpene flavors in a beer, which complement the inclusion of hop flavors and hemp hearts (seeds) in a brand new, delicious way that’s hop sweet throughout with a mild bitter finish —not to mention dank!
JUICY HAZE IPA – another IPA from their Voodoo Ranger line, made with Citra, Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe & Nugget hops, this pours a deep orange color with an opaque hazy look to it that mixes flavors of citrus fruit with a little tropical guava and pineapple to give it a smoothly bitter finish.
FAT TIRE – their best-known beer, using a broad palette of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) this perfectly balanced beer offers flavors of toasty malt, gentle sweetness, and a flash of fresh hop bitterness.
For the liquors, UNION HORSE DISTILLERY (formerly DARK HORSE) will be bringing these excellent entries for you to sample:
ROLLING STANDARD – their newest whiskey offering is a Midwestern Four Grain Whiskey made from locally sourced barley, wheat, corn and rye. It is aged in American oak before being bottled at 92 proof, with flavors of vanilla, maple, almond and dark fruit with a hint of cinnamon.
If you haven’t tried these, don’t miss this opportunity! The distillery has won 36 spirits awards medals, including 11 gold medals, since 2012. In addition to the name change, the company is also now using 5-year barrel-aged stock that makes their whiskeys even smoother than before.
We’ll also be tasting their RIDER VODKA – made from the finest local wheat and distilled in a copper pot, this vodka is slow filtered for superior quality and a smooth finish.
And for the wines, our wonderful rep from Lile Wine will be bringing these four for your tasting enjoyment:
MAJOR WINES ROSE – made from 80% Grenache and 20% Pinot Noir grapes from CA’s Central Coast, this light, dry and crisp wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for 10 months to give its light berry flavors the opportunity to tantalize your palate as they lead into a lightly mineral finish.
VAGLIO AGGIE – 100% Malbec hand harvested from a single vineyard in Gualtallary, Uco Valley, this medium-bodied wine offers pungent, brambly dark fruit flavors with light notes of cocoa that carry through to a firmly tannic, dry finish with a minerally, smoky, lightly peppery aftertaste.
JI JI JI CHENIN BLANC – with a score of 93 points from Robert Parker, this white wine from Argentina is sharp with high acidity and notes of wild herbs, bright orchard fruits plus some lemon pith and a little lime.
WONDERWALL PINOT NOIR – leads off with fresh and delicious flavors of deep black cherry, boysenberry and just-picked strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied, round and very lush with subtle baking spice nuances seasoning the fruit on the long finish.
