Join us this Friday as we prepare for the Chiefs playoff game with a variety of adult beverages for you to try. We’ll kick off with CRANE BREWING CO., another great hometown Kansas City beer maker who’s bringing these beers for you to sample from:
FEST WEISS – Their Berliner-style slightly sour ale made with tangy cranberries and spicy ginger makes it perfect for these cold-weather days.
SAISON – A farmhouse-style beer brewed to finish dry and refresh. Its flavor has a tasty malt up front. followed by fruity yeast and ends lightly bitter and crisp.
ORANGE GOSE – The refreshing taste packs a sour punch with the juicy orange flavor up front like a sour mimosa. Light-bodied with a malty background, a perfect beer to drink year-round.
For the liquors, our wonderful rep from Vintegrity will be bringing these five whiskeys from LEOPOLD BROS. for you to try:
AMERICAN SMALL-BATCH WHISKEY – a traditional sour mash of corn and rye fermented to make a softer 86 proof whiskey that develops subtle flavors such as vanilla, pear, and raspberry. Then it’s distilled in small batch copper potstills on grain to extract fuller and rounder flavors from the corn and rye.
MICHIGAN CHERRY WHISKEY – juicing world-renowned Montmorency tart cherries from Michigan, and blending the juice with their whiskey, this spirit then rests in their used bourbon barrels, giving the flavors time to marry and mature while drawing out notes of vanilla, marzipan, and spice from the barrels.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN PEACH WHISKEY – macerating famous Colorado Palisade peaches, they blend the juice with their whiskey, then rest it in charred American oak barrels, where notes of vanilla, raisin, and oak are pulled from the barrel itself.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN BLACKBERRY WHISKEY – using the finest blackberries from the Rocky Mountain region, they blend the juice with their whiskey, then rest it in charred American oak barrels, where notes of vanilla, raisin, and oak are pulled from the barrel itself.
FRENCH PRESS-STYLE COFFEE LIQUEUR – pressing a proprietary blend of freshly roasted coffee beans and blending it into a raw spirit, they then add a touch of raw cane sugar to balance the acidity, and bottle the blend while it is still warm to lock in the fragrant coffee aroma.
And for the wines. our knowledgeable rep from A. Bommarito will be bringing these for you to taste:
CATENA CABERNET SAUVIGNON – earning a score of 90 points from Robert Parker, this cabernet is full-bodied and rich, displaying silky tannins, and offering layers of black currant and black raspberry with notes of cedar and oregano.
TOAD HOLLOW “GOLDIE’S VINEYARD” PINOT NOIR – a light and fruity Russian River Pinot with bright flavors of cherries, hints of cranberry and raspberry, and a finish that offers a touch of vanilla and sweet oak notes.
HESS SAUVIGNON BLANC – fermented in stainless steel tanks, this wine offers plenty of citrus and tropical fruit flavors alongside a crisp, bright freshness encouraged by wonderful acidity and a full, rich mouthfeel.
ST. HALLETT “FAITH” SHIRAZ – earning a score of 91 points from Wine Spectator, this complex Australian wine has a great balance between its tannins and deep, ripe-fruit character of black berries with a long finish offering a little of leather and licorice flavors.
