Join us this Bastille Day Friday for a fantastic line-up of adult beverages that you won’t want to miss (including a rare treat with the wines). We’ll kick off with beers from the award-winning GREEN FLASH BREWING who’re bringing these:
PASSION FRUIT KICKER – a mouth-watering, smooth brew with sweet, tart, fruity flavor that layers passion fruit tea and passion fruit juice with wheat malt and 2-row malted barley.
PALATE WRECKER – with a 99 point score from RateBeer, they use almost 6 lbs/barrel of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster IPA (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering).
JIBE SESSION IPA – made with layers of Simcoe, Cascade and Amarillo hops, it offers fresh, woodsy pine and eucalyptus flavors with a crisp mouth feel and lingering Oroblanco grapefruit pithy bitterness.
For the liquors, we’ll be hosting our new local distillery LIFTED SPIRITS who’ll be sampling these selections from their family of spirits:
LIFTED SPIRITS GIN – getting its flavor from the botanicals’ vapors rather than by soaking in them, the 10 different botanicals including chamomile, cardamom, hibiscus, elderberries, and orange peel, juniper, orris root, vanilla, licorice root and coriander are lighter, more crisp, more aromatic, without the intense pine tree taste that overwhelms the other flavors in many gins.
LIFTED SPIRITS VODKA – made from red winter wheat grown by farmers less than an hour from Kansas City, this vodka is incredibly smooth.
WICKET & PEG BOURBON – smooth, vanilla forward and slightly citrus tasting. It’s totally sippable, or great for cocktails. Handcrafted by Coulter & Payne in Union, Missouri, their traditional farm distillery approach utilizes locally sourced water and non-GMO corn grown without herbicides.
And for the wines, in keeping with the Bastille Day theme, our wonderful Constellation Brands rep will be bringing this selection of upscale wines for your tasting pleasure:
THE PRISONER – earning a score of 91 points from Wine Spectator, this wine was inspired by the drinkable “mixed blacks” first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in the Napa Valley, The Prisoner soon became the most recognized innovative and unique Napa Valley Red Wine blend, leading the resurgence of blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely “mix” of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono.
The wine offers persistent flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish.
THE PRISONER “BLINDFOLD” – a delicious white blend that earns a score of 90 points from Robert Parker. It starts off with flavors of toasted hazelnut and mandarin balanced by bright acidity and minerality. The finish is rich and creamy with flavors of lemon zest and caramelized sugar.
RUFFINO MODUS – earning a score of 93 points from James Suckling, this full-bodied Super Tuscan style wine is rich with silky tannins and flavors of mature blackberry fruit and cocoa. Vibrant fresh fruit flavors from the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot weave together with finesse, each adding its own distinctive character.
MONDAVI FUME BLANC – earning a score of 90 points from Robert Parker, this Napa Sauvignon Blanc offers zesty lemon, lime and orange citrus, fragrant peach, and fresh pineapple with minerality that further tantalizes the palate, on a wine that is both silky in texture and refreshingly focused.
