Join us this first official Friday evening of the Summer for a tasting featuring a bevy of adult beverages we’ve never sampled before, along with a special treat for you to snack on. We’ll start off with St. Louis beer-maker URBAN CHESTNUT  BREWING CO. who are bringing these fine beers for you to sample:

ZWICKEL – Gold Medal winner at the 2017 LA International Beer Competition and the 2015 World Beer Championships, this true Bavarian-style lager  is unfiltered, unpasteurized and finishes as a smooth-drinking, vitamin rich (from the yeast), naturally cloudy beer made with  Hallertau Perle and Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops.

BIG SHARK – their version of the German-style lemon radler is a deliciously refreshing blend of their Zwickel with lemon-lime soda. Perfect for a hot KC day.

STLIPA – Gold Medal winner at the 2016 World Beer Championships, this double IPA made with  Sterling, Cascade, Mt. Hood, Willamette and Chinook hops is light and citrusy with a light, piney bitterness and a touch of malt on the finish.

For the liquor, we’ll be hosting UNA VIDA TEQUILAS. Using blue agave grown in the distiller’s own fields in Jalisco, Mexico, they double distill the fermented agave spirits using traditional methods in stainless steel mills for extra flavor and purity. We’ll be trying all three of their tequilas:

BLANCO – offers flavors of  delicate fruit and floral tones balancing the sweet agave and leading to a smooth finish.

REPOSADO – aged in American oak barrels for 6 months, the agave sweetness on the front end is balanced by carmelization in the wood along with herbal flavors and lingering wood spice on the finish.

ANEJO – aged in American oak barrels for 18 months, smooth and delicious, easy-drinking agave flows across the tongue before the light notes of woody vanilla and wood spice appear for a lingering finish.

And for the wines, our wonderful rep from A. Bommarito will be going all Italian as he brings these for you to taste:

ADAMI PROSECCO – Opening with aromas of ripe orchard fruit, this delightful Italian sparkling wine offers flavors of yellow apple, Bartlett pear and just a hint of beeswax. It’s fun and fresh, with a crisp acidity and a clean finish.

SCAIA ROSE – made with Rondinella grapes grown in volcanic soil in the Colognola ai Colli region of the Veneto, the dry and delicate wine offers flavors of raspberries and a hint of citrus with balanced acidity and a finish that’s long and pleasant .

SCAIA CORVINA – Corvina is best known as the lead grape in the red blends of Valpolicella and Amarone. This smooth as silk, well-balanced, medium-bodied wine that offers intense flavors of light wood smoke, black cherry, blackberry, wild berries, and a hint of floral roses that carries on through a lingering finish. A great wine to leave open for an hour as the flavors develop as it sits.

MASSONE “MASERA” GAVI – made with 100% Cortese grapes, this light and crisp white wine offers flavors of apples and white peach with lemon rind and lime set off by a light effervescence and a distinct touch of minerality on the finish.

LI VELI PASSAMANTE SALICE SALENTINO –  made of 100% Negroamaro grapes, this deep red wine is full-bodied, powerful, smooth and very long, with a well defined acid streak which makes it fresh and pleasing and brings out the intense flavors of fleshy red fruits, notably cherries, followed by spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
