Friday Dec 15th
4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Join us this last Friday of the Fall for a tasting of a few old adult beverage favorites and quite a few new ones. We’ll kick off with a newcomer to the Kansas City area, BROOKLYN BREWERY, who’ll be bringing these fines beers for you to sample:
SORACHI ACE SAISON – the Sorachi Ace hop was developed by a large Japanese brewery in the late 1970s. A cross between British Brewers Gold, Japanese “Beikei No. 2” and the famed Czech Saaz, it has a unique lemony, herbal flavor giving this unfiltered golden farmhouse ale a clean malt flavor with the quirky Sorachi Ace hop standing front and center. Dry-hopping releases Sorachi Ace’s bright, spicy aromatics to tickle the nose before ascending into a fine harmony between pilsner malt and playful Belgian ale yeast.
LAGER – this “Vienna” style recipe displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma with a caramel malt finish. Enhanced by “dry-hopping” with an array of American and German hops, the result is a wonderfully flavorful beer that’s smooth and refreshing.
DEFENDER IPA – this golden IPA made with Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial hops features strong notes of tropical fruit, well-muscled hop bitterness, and an incredibly dry finish.
NARANJITO APA – An extra burst of aromatic Summit and Simcoe hops and a sizable helping of sweet orange peel create just the right pop of citrus in the classic American Pale Ale.
For the liquor, we’ll be tasting all the spirits available from our local TOM’S TOWN DISTILLERY (located over on Main St.). This a great opportunity for you to sample these premium liquors:
PENDERGAST’S ROYAL GOLD BOURBON – this 90 Proof Bourbon offers a rich warmth with a smooth and well-balanced flavor, finished in hand-selected 14-year-old port casks.
McELROY’S CORRUPTION GIN – this 90 Proof favorite is a complex, spicy and botanical New Western style gin.
ELI’S STRONGARM VODKA – one of the best out there, this is a pure, smooth and imposing vodka, distilled 16 times.
And for the wines, our fantastic rep from Major Brands will be bringing these to tempt your tastebuds:
CAYMUS NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON – earning a score of 94 points from Robert Parker, this wine “springs from the glass with lifted crème de cassis, violets and chocolate box notes” that completely pack the full-bodied palate, with soft, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing very long and very spicy.
MER SOLEIL RESERVE CHARDONNAY – this medium to full-bodied wine offers a mix of oak, butter and fully ripe white peach balanced by a vibrant acidity that finishes with endearing creaminess, firm structure and pure fruit in the aftertaste.
POEMA CAVA ROSE – this delicious dry sparkling wine shows flavors typical of Trepat (a Spanish red grape), with fresh and elegant notes of strawberry, raspberry and rose petals. Balanced acidity keeps the wine light and fresh.
CONUNDRUM RED – earning a score of 90 points from Wine.com, this blend made from dark red varietals including Zinfandel and Petite Sirah delivers an attractive smooth silkiness that continues through its finish.
CONUNDRUM WHITE – earning a score of 90 points from Wine Spectator, this blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Semillon and Muscat Canelli delivers a juicy mix of honeysuckle, peach, apple and lemon verbena, set on a light and effortless frame.
