Join us this Friday for a spectacular tasting that’ll include all the flavors of Fall: beer, wines and whiskey. We’ll start off with an assortment of beers from Michigan beermaking favorite BELLS BREWERY who’ll be bringing these three for you to sample:

BEST BROWN ALE – with a 91 score from RateBeer, this smooth, toasty brown ale offers hints of caramel and cocoa, while the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. A balancing act aided by the generous use of American hops.

cody-road-whiskeyOATSMOBILE – a hop-forward session Pale Ale that uses a blend of classic and modern Pacific Northwest hops, including Mosaic, Equinox and Glacier, for a pungent blend of peach, mango and tropical aromas. The signature ingredient – oats – are what makes Oatsmobile Ale stand apart, and gives it a body that you don’t see in most other session Pale Ales.

OARSMAN ALE – tart and refreshing, this sessionable, bright Wheat Ale exudes citrus and lemony aromas from Cascade hops and trades sour intensity for finesse.

For the liquor, we’ll be sampling the hand-crafted small-batch whiskeys of Iowa-based MISSISSIPPI RIVER DISTILLING CO. who count among their competition medals  a Silver Medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

CODY ROAD BOURBON – produced from a recipe consisting of 70% corn grown in LeClaire, 20% wheat and 10% unmalted barley plucked straight out of Reynolds, IL that gives this whiskey the sweetness of corn, light fruit from wheat and a grassy, nutty finish from the unmalted barley as well as vanilla and caramel from the oak. Bottled at 90 proof, it’s got a beautifully smooth finish.

CODY ROAD RYE – a 100% rye distilled from grain grown in nearby Fulton, Illinois, and bottled at 80 Proof.  Offering a complexity of tastes, Honeycrisp, apricot, pear fruitiness start it off, followed  by a finish of mild oak and black pepper spiciness.

For the wines, our excellent rep from Vintegrity will be bringing all these wines for you to sample:

STORYBOOK MOUNTAIN MAYACAMAS RANGE ZINFANDEL – this one is a real treat for you to taste as it rates 90 points or better in every wine expert’s scores! Black cherry, berries, hints of cola, and minerals emerge initially in the nose of this wine, soon joined by a touch of cardamom and vanilla. Focused cherry liquor and refined tannins are at the core of its flavor and structure, a central core of intensity that lingers on and on.

storybook-zinDASHE DRY RIESLING – in the style of the dry white wines from the Alsace region of France with its lush texture, great balance of spiciness with flavors of pear and dried apricots and light acidity, and superb minerality,

SHANNON RIDGE CABERNET SAUVIGNON – part of their High Elevation Collection, its  flavors include ripe dark fruits, dark chocolate, black pepper, hints of vanilla and spice. It’s a smooth wine with good structure, rich tannins and a long and lingering finish.

WRATH EX ANIMA SAUVIGNON BLANC – its  grapes are havested at two different ripeness levels and two lots of wine are produced. The final blend incorporates a portion of each lot so that a full range of varietal flavor is captured to make it vibrant and complex, balanced by expressive notes of gooseberry, lime and passion fruit that finishes with a clean minerality.

ANDERSON’S CONN VALLEY PROLOGUE CHARDONNAY – bursting with flinty almost smokey notes, minerals, green apple, Meyer lemon, Bartlett pear, white flowers, and spices. It’s got a crisp flavor with bright acidity, very little of the buttery quality to this Chard.

BUTTERNUT PINOT NOIR – cherry and black plum flavors  are met with a medium bodied, silky finish.
